The Academic Excellence Academy is designed for students who demonstrate strong academic ability and a commitment to learning, providing enriched opportunities across key curriculum areas while remaining connected to the wider school community.
Our Purpose
The Academic Excellence Academy exists to:
Extend high-achieving students through rigorous and engaging learning experiences
Foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning
Support students to develop strong study habits, resilience, and academic confidence
Prepare students for future pathways through excellence, aspiration, and consistency
Students in the Academy are encouraged to challenge themselves, take intellectual risks, and develop the skills needed for success now and into the future.
Areas of Excellence
The Academy provides focused enrichment across core learning areas, including:
Mathematics
Students engage in advanced problem-solving, logical reasoning, and real-world mathematical applications that extend beyond the standard curriculum.
Science
Through inquiry-based learning and practical investigations, students deepen their understanding of scientific concepts while developing analytical and experimental skills.
English
Students refine reading, writing, and communication skills through complex texts, creative expression, and critical analysis, building strong literacy foundations.
Humanities

Students may choose to apply for all Academy Programs or one stand-alone Academy Program.
Applications for Academy Programs are considered in three parts:
1. Written application
2. Report Card- level of achievement, effort, behaviour, and attendance
3. Trial or audition (by invitation only, as required)
Existing Upper Coomera State College students are not required to complete
step 1 and step 2 of the application process.
Academy Programs applications are open to students living both inside and outside the catchment area for Upper Coomera State College.
