Upper Coomera State College (UCSC) student leadership roles are of distinct significance throughout the college. Students elected for these roles espouse to the college values and display them to fellow students and the broader community.
Being a great student leader is more than having a strong resume and being a popular member of the school community. You must have a keen eye for the attitudes of your peers and have an excellent ability to work collaboratively with adults, but most importantly students. At UCSC we are exceptionally proud of our student leaders and their tireless efforts in developing a positive sense of school community and spirit.
Leadership takes the form of two main groups of students at UCSC. Firstly are the school-based elected positions in which the activities are focussed primarily on developing the culture of our college and supporting projects that benefit our local community. Each year the following positions are appointed to students who fulfil the application and selection criteria:
Primary School Captains
Primary School Student Councillors
Primary School House Captains
Junior Secondary School Captains
Junior Secondary Student Councillors
Junior Secondary House Captains
Secondary School Captains
Secondary School Prefects
Secondary School Student Councillors
Senior School House Captains
- Griffith University STEM Ambassadors
Secondly, UCSC is a proud and active member of the Northern Collegiate of schools. This program involves a group of year 11 students developing their leadership potential and skills while collaborating with students from Coombabah State High School, Helensvale State High School, Pacific Pines State High School, Pimpama State Secondary College and Ormeau Woods State High School. This talented group of students meet regularly and work together on a number of community-based activities such as Clean-Up Australia Day, Youth Week, Relay for Life and their 2016 project, 'Project Samoa' throughout the year.
The program encourages student learning through leadership and is offered to students who demonstrate strong leadership skills or have the potential to develop in this area.
