Joshua Arthur attended Upper Coomera State College from its opening in 2003, through to his graduation in 2013. As a student with diverse interests, he developed a particular aptitude for science and mathematics in his high school years, encouraged in those pursuits by his many excellent teachers. While very uncertain about his future post-graduation, he eventually decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science. With good grades and a top OP score, he was offered a Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and began his undergraduate degree at QUT in 2014. He majored in physics, while minoring in astrophysics and environmental science. For his Honours year in 2017, he studied methods to tune the colour of organic light emitting diodes. In 2018, Joshua began his PhD, working on biosensors based on organic transistors. Joshua presently works at QUT as a Sessional Academic and Postdoctoral Fellow, teaching undergraduate classes and continuing his research on organic transistors.
After moving to Australia from the Philippines in late 2006, Gabriel attended UCSC from Year 2 to Year 12, graduating in 2016. He was heavily involved in the school's culture, such as musicals and the Student Council, and would end up being one of the School Captains in his Senior year. Whilst at UCSC, Gabriel studied a diverse range of subjects, including Year 12 English, Maths B, IT, Graphics, Physics, and Drama. After graduating, Gabriel began a dual degree of a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of IT in 2017 at the University of Queensland, but would exchange out of IT in early 2018. Whilst at UQ, he engaged with extracurricular activities, such as being a mentor for the UQ Young Scholar's Program and having an executive role for the UQ Society, with over 300 members (The Chocolate Appreciation Society). He graduated from the Bachelor of Arts in 2020 and began a Masters of Teaching (Secondary) at QUT in 2021, graduating midway through 2023. Gabriel now, evidently, teaches at UCSC and is able to pay-forward the guidance and support that many teachers at this same school gave to him during his time here.
