Sports Academy

​​​​​​​​​​The UCSC Sports Academies have been designed to cater for students from Year 7 to Year 12 to develop their skills and knowledge relevant to their chosen sporting pathway. The strength of our Sports Academies lies in its holistic approach to each student's academic, athletic and personal development to promote a seamless pathway to sporting success.

The UCSC Sports Academies has both a Future Stars Academy and a Basketball Academy. Students can apply to be a part of both the Future Stars and Basketball Academy.

Future Stars Academy

The Future Stars Academy is specifically designed to deliver quality outcomes to quality athletes who participate in individual and or team sports. The program supports exceptionally talented young athletes from years 7 – 12 who have attained a representative or a high level in their chosen sport, looking to take their academic, athletic and personal development to the next level.

The Future Stars Academy is in partnership with the Gold Coast Academy of Sport (GCAS) and was the first school in South East Queensland to have such a partnership.

Through the access to UCSC specialist staff and industry professionals, the focus is on developing well rounded athletes who are able to effectively manage the demands of both the academic study and training commitments.

Future Stars Academy includes ($250.00 per annum):

  • Future Stars Academy Polo Shirt
  • 4 x Gold Coast Academy of Sport (GCAS) Sessions (1 per term)
  • Morning and lunchtime sporting sessions
  • Coaching and refereeing opportunities
  • Incursions and excursions throughout the year​

How to apply:

  1. Before applying scan and save the necessary supporting documentation under the following file names:
    1. Latest NAPLAN results: NameNAPLAN

    4. Copy of any applicable awards: NameAward

  2. Select the academy you wish to apply for be taken to our interactive forms.

Basketball Academy 


The Basketball Academy is specifically designed to deliver quality outcomes to quality athletes who participate in the sport of Basketball. The program supports exceptionally talented young athletes from years 7 – 12 who have attained a representative or a high level in Basketball, looking to take their academic, athletic and personal development to the next level.

Through the access to UCSC specialist staff and industry professionals, the focus is on developing well rounded athletes who are able to effectively manage the demands of both the academic study and training commitments.


Basketball Academy includes ($200.00 per year):

  • Basketball Academy Training Attire
  • 4 x training days (1 per term)
  • Morning and lunchtime training sessions
  • Interschool sport (4 x gala days)
  • Coaching and refereeing opportunities
  • Incursions and excursions throughout the year

Scholarships: 

Upper Coomera State College offers scholarships to students who exemplify initiative, drive and success in Academics, Sport, Creative Arts and STEM.

Scholarships are awarded to those students already successful in their application and who are achieving well above the standard for their year level in academics, behaviour and effort.

Scholarships are available in amounts of $100, $200, or $300 to support your child's educational journey in our Signature Programs.

At the Principals discretion, scholarships may also be awarded to UCSC students who achieve outstanding results during a full calendar year.

 

** An annual fee in addition to the school resource scheme fee is payable upon acceptance into a program and each subsequent year that the student is part of a program. The fee for 2024 is $100.00 per program (the Sports Excellence - Future Stars Program has a separate fee structure - see college website for details). Fees must be paid prior to the commencement of the school year and is non-refundable. If the fees are not paid by the due date this will be taken to indicate the student no longer wishes to participate in the program. Should the student not maintain the standards of the program their participation in the program will be reviewed and entrance fees forfeited.
