We are fortunate to have many volunteers who work across various locations around the college including the canteen, admin, finance and in our classrooms. Without our volunteers many important jobs and programs which benefit the school would not be possible.

The college has a dedicated Reading Volunteer Program Coordinator, Laurie Weeden, who works closely with staff and volunteers to support and further extend our reading program primarily in the junior school. We currently have a dedicated group of volunteers who visit our classrooms on a regular basis and assist our teachers with fostering a love for reading amongst our students.

Volunteer opportunities are diverse at Upper Coomera State College, allowing you to build your skill sets and get involved in our wonderful community.
As a volunteer you will be provided with opportunities to engage in professional development, so you are confident in your role.
We are very excited to introduce a brand new program called the "Boost" Reading Program. Our new BOOST reading program will be run by dedicated trained volunteers and will help support our readers in year 2 and 4.
There are 3 distinct programs available within the Boost program, providing you as a volunteer, the opportunity to specialise depending on your skillsets.

  • The BOOST IT UP program will focus on providing additional support to our junior school
  • The BOOST BUDDIES program will target peer reading relationships between our junior and senior campuses
  • The Teen BOOST volunteer program will provide you the opportunity to work with the learning support team in the secondary school to help improve junior secondary student's reading
We require volunteers who are enthusiastic, able to commit to a regular roster and willing to engage in training for the role.
If you have a desire to make a difference to our students reading and want to learn how to foster the love of reading, please contact our Reading Volunteer Coordinator for further details on the program and how you can be involved.
