The Industrial Technology and Design (ITD) faculty at Upper Coomera State College is a dynamic practical department, striving for excellence in engaging students to become active and responsible participants within the global community.

We provide every student with continuous and applied practical skills enabling independent and critical thought promoting relevant life and vocational skills in order to harness constantly evolving technologies.

ITD

Industrial Technology and Design subjects are designed to introduce students to and develop their proficiency in a variety of materials and practical processes. Through hands-on "learn by doing" experience, students develop manufacturing skills to manipulate various materials through woodwork, metalwork and plastics workshop classes. Using computer-aided design (CAD) rapid prototyping ITD subjects such as STEMENG, engineering, design technology & graphics allows students to be exposed to all areas of industrial project management, from initial design concept sketching and planning to project realisation.

ITD allows students interested in trade skill occupations the opportunity to carry out VET Vocational Education & Training pathways at school through Certificate courses in Engineering pathways, Automotive and Construction. These course are supported by school based traineeships and apprenticeships with local area industry partnerships.

Home Economics, Hospitality & Tourism

Home Economics is a dynamic curriculum area that constantly responds to changes in society to provide practical courses that are relevant and important. Students will understand and challenge the way that society impacts on their well-being: through advertising and media messages; through social pressures that run counter to a healthy lifestyle.

Hospitality provides a wide range of practical hands on learning opportunities for students. It encourages the development of research skills, higher cognitive levels of processing information and practical skills in food service preparation & service, sewing and textiles. The learning is unique because it provides the development of these skills in practical kitchen and café learning facilities to promote real life situations.

CC's Café

CC's café is a student-run cafe teaching the next generation of baristers, hoteliers, caterers and waiters the skills to thrive in their respective professions while training in a school environment. Students work in daily café shifts and whole school functions that contribute to their Certificate III in Hospitality.
