Upper Coomera State College has a proud tradition of excellence in the Arts. The CreativeArts Academy offers dedicated students the opportunity to explore and extend their talents across five areas: Dance, Drama, Film, Music, and Visual Art.
This Academy is designed for students who are passionate about the Arts and are committed to developing their skills, confidence, and creativity. Whether aiming for a future in the creative industries or simply wishing to grow as an artist and performer, students are supported to reach their full potential.
The Creative Arts Academy provides a supportive and vibrant environment where students can build their confidence, refine their skills, and grow as artists. Regular performance opportunities and extra-curricular activities help students take risks, build self-esteem, and shine throughout their creative journey.
Key Objectives
The goal of the Creative ARts Academy is to:
- inspire students to strive for excellence in their chosen Arts field(s)
- provide opportunities for self-expression and creative thinking
- offer access to expert teaching and real-world learning experiences
- foster personal growth, resilience, and leadership through the Arts
- encourage collaboration, confidence, and a strong sense of iidentity
Program Involvement
The Creative Arts Academy provides students with:
- a broad curriculum covering performance, theory, and production
- opportunities to specialise in one or more Arts strands
- access to workshops, performance events, exhibitions, and competitions
- engagement with visiting professionals and mentors from the creative industries projects that encourage teamwork, initiative, and creative problem-solving
Students are also expected to participate in College events such as the Annual ArtsShowcase, Variety Concert, and school productions, helping them gain realperformance and presentation experience.
Beyond the Classroom
Students in the Creative Arts Academy enjoy a wide range of excursions andworkshops with some of Queensland’s leading creative organisations, including:
- Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC)
- Home of the Arts (HOTA)
- Queensland College of Art
- Griffith Film School
- Mashed Theatre Company
- Bangarra Dance Company
- SWELL Festival
- Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA)
These experiences help students explore future pathways and make meaningfulconnections with professionals in the Arts.

Students may choose to apply for all Academy Programs or one stand-alone Academy Program.
Applications for Academy Programs are considered in three parts:
1. Written application
2. Report Card- level of achievement, effort, behaviour, and attendance
3. Trial or audition (by invitation only, as required)
Existing Upper Coomera State College students are not required to complete
step 1 and step 2 of the application process.
Academy Programs applications are open to students living both inside and outside the catchment area for Upper Coomera State College.
Scholarships:
Upper Coomera State College offers scholarships to students who exemplify initiative, drive and success in Academics, Sport, Creative Arts and STEM.
Scholarships are awarded to those students already successful in their application and who are achieving well above the standard for their year level in academics, behaviour and effort.
At the Principals discretion, scholarships may also be awarded to UCSC students who achieve outstanding results during a full calendar year.
