Student Resource Scheme
In accordance with the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006, External link the cost of providing instruction, administration and facilities for the education of students enrolled at State Schools who are Australian citizens or permanent residents, or children of Australian citizens of permanent residents, is met by the State, which means there is no cost to the parent/caregiver.
Parents/caregivers however are directly responsible for providing textbooks and other resources for their children, while attending school. In recognition that these costs can be high, Upper Coomera State College provides an optional service to assist parents/caregivers with the cost of these educational resources, known as a Student Resource Scheme (SRS).
The scheme is designed to offset the cost to you of the provision of educational resources associated with your child’s education. These resources enhance your child’s educational experience and assist them to fully engage with the curriculum.
Participation in the scheme is voluntary, and there is no obligation on a parent to participate in the scheme. A parent or caregiver’s decision to participate or not is based on consideration of the value afforded to them by the scheme. A parent or caregiver who chooses not to participate in the scheme is responsible for providing the student with all items that would otherwise be provided to the student by the scheme as detailed on the Year Level Requirements Lists to enable the student to engage with the College’s curriculum.
Please note that if you choose not to participate in the Scheme, you are still required to complete and return the Participation Agreement Form, indicating your preference.
The Scheme is not used to raise funds for other purposes, and revenue collected through the Scheme is applied only to the resources and operation of the Scheme.
The Scheme continues to provide outstanding value for money as the College purchases in bulk to secure the best prices, which in turn, enables the SRS Fees to be kept as low as possible. Participation in the Scheme provides access to textbooks, resources, various IT devices (e.g., access to iPads), and continues to include all stationery items that students require for their learning at school, see
Student Resource Scheme FAQ's for more details.
The inclusion of stationery items in the Scheme has saved families a significant amount of time, money and effort in sourcing the prescribed materials elsewhere. In the past, parents were expected to purchase stationery items separately. This means that participants of the scheme WILL NOT be required to purchase books from suppliers, or arrange their own stationery via external suppliers.
All stationery items will be the responsibility of each student, and the College will provide sufficient supplies for the full school year. However, if items are misplaced, it will be the parent or caregiver’s responsibility to provide replacements.
Participation in the College Student Resource Scheme is strongly encouraged as it ensures ALL stationery, resources and subscriptions required for learning throughout the year are available to your student.
Student resource scheme documents
To find out what the student resource fee covers, please download the Student Resource Scheme information 2025. The purpose of this document is to outline the required resources for each year level. Indicative retail prices are also included to assist parent/caregivers in making an informed choice, should they be considering not participating in the scheme.
For new students to the College, parents are required to complete and return the SRS Participation agreement form (PDF, 225KB) when joining the scheme for the first time. If no participation form is received by the first instalment date below, the school will take the view that the parent has chosen to opt out of the SRS. The parent is then required to provide the educational resources listed in the SRS for their child by the start of the school year.
For continuing students, a parent or caregiver's participation or non-participation in the scheme will continue as per their previously completed Participation Agreement Form.
A parent or caregiver can opt in or out of the scheme in subsequent years by completing another Participation agreement form (PDF, 225KB).
Please note that if you choose not to participate in the Scheme, you are still required to complete and return the Participation agreement form (PDF, 225KB), indicating your preference.
