Upper Coomera State College Junior Secondary School consists of year 7, 8 and 9.
We understand transition into secondary school can
sometimes be daunting, so junior secondary has an extensive transition
program for current UCSC students and neighbouring primary schools to ensure students are supported and ready for secondary school life.
Programs such as Student Enrichment Activities, clinics and workshops, and
information evenings allow students to meet college staff and
familiarise themselves with the school and subjects on offer.
Students in year 7 are taught by teachers from the same learning community. This provides a level of consistency and connectedness for students. Students have the same teacher for maths/science and English/history. This allows teachers to develop close working relationships with students and families during this first crucial stage of secondary school. In year 8 & 9 students stay in the same cohort for the main key subject areas allowing a small group of teachers to get to know the students and their learning and social needs.
In Junior Secondary School your child is provided innovative, academically challenging and inspiring learning pathway taught by teachers that have displayed outstanding pedagogy and the ability to push students to perform to their highest ability.
Students are able to apply for entry into four distinct signature programs that have been developed alongside industry and tertiary institutions. Students can be confident that the study they do now with UCSC will equip them with the skills, knowledge and experience required to succeed in their chosen pathway.
UCSC offers scholarships to students who have demonstrated a high academic ability, exemplary behaviour and excellence in either academics, STEM or sport. The scholarships can be attained for the STEM Excellence Program and the Athlete and Sport Development Program. For more information and application forms click here.
